Complaints and managing your service charge for shared ownership properties

As a shared owner, you have to pay 100% of the service charge for your property, regardless of the size of the share you own.

Challenging your service charge

You can challenge your service charge for several reasons, including:

  • if you think the cost is not reasonable
  • if you do not think the service or work was done to a reasonable standard
  • if you do not think the work was necessary

Escalating complaints

If you need to make a complaint, you must first do it through the housing provider’s complaints process. If they do not have a complaints process, you can email them instead.
