The Leasehold Advisory Service (LEASE) is hosting a free webinar about building safety and leaseholder protections on Tuesday 24 November at 7pm.

We will be joined by Harry Beeching, Head of Leaseholder Protections at the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG).

The Building Safety Act 2022 introduced legal protections that can stop or limit the amount some leaseholders have to pay towards fixing historic building safety defects.

The webinar will help leaseholders understand how the building safety system works, the different roles and responsibilities involved, and what this means in practice.

There will be a particular focus on:

  • leaseholder protections, including protections for the cost of unsafe cladding and other historic building safety defects
  • who may be responsible for remediation costs
  • what leaseholders should know if building safety issues affect their home

There will also be plenty of time for questions, with Nicholas Kissen, Senior Legal Manager at LEASE, and Asha Thacker-Hirani, Senior Legal Adviser at LEASE, taking part in a live Q&A on building safety and leaseholder rights.

While the speakers will not be able to advise on individual cases during the webinar, attendees will be able to ask questions about a range of building safety concerns and how the relevant protections and responsibilities apply in practice.
