Free webinar: service charges for leaseholders (29 June 2026)

The Leasehold Advisory Service (LEASE) is launching a new series of free webinars for leaseholders, covering key leasehold topics and giving leaseholders the chance to put questions to our legal advisers.

The first webinar in the series will focus on service charges.

Service charges are the most common enquiry topic we receive from leaseholders. This webinar will cover the key legal and practical issues that often arise, including how demands should be issued, leaseholders’ rights to information, reasonableness of costs and the steps you can take if you wish to challenge a charge.

The session will begin with a short overview of the topic, followed by a Q&A. Most of the webinar will be dedicated to answering leaseholders’ questions.

You will be able to submit a question when you register. There will also be an opportunity to ask live questions during the webinar about anything covered in the session.

Please note that the webinar will provide general information and advice only. LEASE cannot advise individual cases, review documents, act on your behalf or answer questions about complex legal disputes during the session.

The webinar will be delivered by LEASE senior legal advisers Richard Hand and Ben Anoff.

This webinar is for leaseholders who want practical information about service charges and the options available if they have concerns about a charge.

It may be useful if you want to understand more about:

• service charge demands
• what information you can ask your landlord or managing agent for
• what counts as a reasonable service charge
• what to consider before challenging a charge
• paying under protest
• applying to the tribunal

This is the first in a new programme of LEASE webinars for leaseholders. Further sessions are planned later this year on topics including lease extension and fire safety.
