To help leaseholders understand their rights and whether they qualify for protections, the government has launched a new Leaseholder Protections Checker and detailed guidance. It will use information from leaseholders to work out the maximum amount they may be charged under the new protections in the Building Safety Act. It requires leaseholders to input information including, their lease value, the number of properties they own and whether they have contributed to remediation costs in the last five years. Using the information inputted, it will calculate the amounts which leaseholders may be liable to contribute.
