What happens to the qualifying lease if I sell my property?

If you sell your property, your status as a leaseholder on 14 February 2022 will be passed on to your buyer.

So, if you have a leaseholder deed of certificate showing you have a qualifying lease, this will become the status of your buyer.

If you do not have a qualifying lease, then this non-qualifying status will pass on to your buyer, even if they intend to reside there or do not own more than 3 properties in the UK.
