Outreach and Media Update – July 2025

Senior adviser Richard Hand has been engaging with communities across the country this Spring, meeting residents, attending local events, and speaking on BBC Radio to highlight key issues like service charges and park home rights.

Richard visited leaseholders in the constituency of MP Rosie Wrighting in Kettering, Northants, with legal adviser, Moonisah Afsal, also joining.

Richard and fellow adviser, Kevin Richards, talked to park home residents at an event in Runnymede, Surrey.

Richard also spoke to leaseholders of the Carters Estate in Merton, with Wimbledon MP, Paul Kohler.

Richard has also appeared on BBC Radio Northants and Somerset discussing leaseholder concerns, including service charges. Further media engagement to follow throughout the summer, in particular on park homes.

LEASE in the Media and on Location

Senior Adviser Alero Orimoloye has also been actively supporting leaseholders this Spring—offering expert advice on ground rent concerns, speaking at national housing conferences, and helping residents navigate lease extensions ahead of upcoming legislative reforms.

Alero has been out and about in the media too – representing LEASE’s mission to inform and empower leaseholders. She provided insights – for the This Is Money site – on a leaseholder’s query about purchasing a property with an inflation linked £500 ground rent. Read the full article here.

Alero was also invited to speak at Inside Housing’s Tenant and Resident Engagement Conference and The Islington Leaseholder Home Ownership conference. She shared her valuable experiences regarding how the lack of communication and transparency by landlords are major contributors to leaseholder discontent and assisted leaseholders in considering options for extending their leases given the forthcoming legislative reforms.

LEASE participated in BBC One Show’s Watchdog slot focused on leasehold rights, which highlighted the impact of poor housing management.

Bringing specialist advice to your community

From leasehold law to fire safety and park homes, LEASE outreach sessions bring our legal advisers directly to the groups who need us most. These tailored events offer in-depth, face-to-face guidance on the real issues leaseholders and park home residents face. From service charges to pitch fees. In one recent case, our outreach was even featured in the news! Outreach really can be impactful. We can support a limited number of in-person outreach events a year due to adviser capacity – so larger events are better.  But we are able to support many more virtually.  If you’d like a LEASE adviser at your event – please consider if virtual attendance is possible and we will do our best to support online! If you would like LEASE to attend your event please complete the event booking form.

LEASE is governed by a board, appointed as individuals by the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.
