LEASE analysis provides an updated picture of the challenges raised by park homeowners
The Leasehold Advisory Service (LEASE) has published new analysis highlighting the most common issues raised by park homeowners through our advice service.
Drawing on approximately 1,000 direct enquiries received over the past year, the data shows that pitch fees remain the most frequent concern, followed by disrepair and utilities. Questions about buying and selling a park home also feature prominently, including cases where residents report difficulties completing a sale.
While not the most common enquiry overall, the report notes that enquiries relating to sale blocking continue to be raised by residents. This year, just over one in 15 park home enquiries received by LEASE related to perceived or actual sale blocking, compared with one in 20 the previous year. Many park homeowners are older households, with 80% over the age of 65 and 77% economically inactive, meaning that unresolved issues may have a significant impact on those affected.
The report includes the anonymised experience of a park homeowner who faced difficulties when attempting to sell a home she had inherited. She reported that potential purchasers withdrew following interactions with the site owner, resulting in a prolonged and distressing process.
LEASE’s Insight Reports aim to highlight emerging trends in the issues raised by consumers, helping improve understanding across the housing sector and supporting residents to make informed decisions.
