Hello,
We’re Sally and Alice – Chief Executives here at LEASE since January. And what a nine months it has been! When Martin, our Chair, arrived in November last year, LEASE saw a step change. We arrived in January and by March LEASE had a new expert Board appointed (see our Chair Martin Boyd’s piece). Why is this important? Because it is a recognition of the important role LEASE can play, not only in helping individuals who need advice but on being a force for positive change in the wider leasehold and park homes system.
We each have 20 years of policy, strategy and delivery roles in central Government – mainly in housing and Local Government. In this role we are really enjoying working more directly with citizens and frontline support services. We have been so impressed – in our relatively short time here – with the expertise, commitment and passion of the staff at LEASE. The changes that are happening will all mean that this specialist knowledge can be more impactful and wide-reaching.
As part of LEASE’s new remit to help improve the system we plan to expand our work with the leaseholders and leaseholder groups to help represent your interests. Over the coming year we will be reaching out a lot more for your views. We want to learn a lot more from your collective experience and expertise. Including on specific issues in relation to Park Homes, Shared Ownership and Retirement Homes, as well as Leasehold.
In the future we will have more leaseholder and commonhold controlled sites so education and training resources for RMC/RTM and commonhold directors will become ever more important. Some of that training will come from LEASE. We will be looking for your input to help guide us on what resources you need LEASE to provide.
We are only at the start of this journey so watch this space! In the meantime, we hope you enjoy the newsletter – it is the first in our new format. And please do get in touch about any issues you would like to see in future editions!
