A First Look at Our New Free Building Safety eLearning: What’s the Golden Thread?

24 July 2025

Volunteer directors managing their buildings play a crucial role, but do they always have the information they need?

Here’s a taster of our new eLearning course, developed in partnership with the Building Safety Regulator, and designed to help leaseholders – especially resident directors of Right to Manage (RTM) s and Resident Management Companies (RMC) – better understand their roles and responsibilities under the new building safety laws.

If you’re a leaseholder, this affects you too. The way buildings are managed is changing — and the costs are often met through your service charges.

This two-minute animation introduces the ‘Golden Thread’ of information, a key part of the new regime for buildings over 18 meters – watch the video and start exploring why clear, up-to-date building safety information matters.

At LEASE, we know that resident directors of Right to Manage (RTM) and Resident Management Companies (RMC) take on significant responsibilities, often without formal training. That is why we have also worked with the Building Safety Regulator on accessible eLearning, tailored to help directors better understand their rights, duties, and the regulatory landscape, particularly in relation to building safety.

This new online learning is part of our ongoing commitment to make leaseholders more informed and empowered, especially those who have taken on the responsibility of managing their own buildings. The full course will be available shortly!

LEASE is governed by a board, appointed as individuals by the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government.
