Is a remediation contribution order enforceable?

Yes, remediation contribution orders (RCOs) are enforceable.

A building owner, developer or associated person named in an RCO can be held in contempt of court if they have not complied with the RCO, for example failing to make payments ordered, within the specified timeframe.

Contempt of court can be punished by a fine or up to 2 years in prison.
