User FAQs
i own a flat (leasehold) in a purpose built block of flats. the freeholder arranges the building insurance and sends me the bill. am i allowed to arrange my own insurance?
You should firstly check the provisions of your lease to establish what the insurance provisions are. If the landlord is responsible for arranging the buildings insurance you will not have the right to arrange your own buildings insurance.
You may wish to consider taking over the management of your building through the Right to Manage or applying to the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal (LVT) for a manager to be appointed.
