User FAQs
I live in a leasehold flat and have just had the guttering replaced however since the guttering has been done I have damp in my bedroom. what are my rights with regarding to paying for the work
It may first be necessary to establish the cause of the damp. You should then refer to the terms of your lease to find out who is responsible for the repairs. If you find out that the damp in your bedroom is being caused as a result of poor guttering works, you may have a claim for damages against the party responsible.
With regard to paying for the work, service charges are payable insofar as they are reasonable. If you consider the service charge to be unreasonable you can challenge it through the Leasehold Valuation Tribunal (LVT).
